WOW! This is a very nice MERCURY bodied T Speedster with a Fronty overhead, it may be the Vic Sala car, one of the earliest ones to be restored. Bob
Thanks for posting these, my dad used to race on the dirt circle tracks in Hawaii in 53 and 54. He was stationed there after Korea and I was born there in Nov. of 54. Makes me think of the fun he must have had back then....wish he was still alive to share this with me. I hit the newb thread a couple of years ago when I first joined, just haven't posted anything since.
What a great collection. Thank you very much for sharing, this is one of those threads that you need to keep looking back at. Something jumps out each time.
The engine has Weiand heads, I can't read the intake but I think its the same. The word FRANCES is on the side with an interesting cross sort of thing. The interior shot of a different car is clean but I cannot quite figure out what is in front of the steering wheel. Any guesses?
This Plymouth looks like it was fairly new when it was crashed. This Caddy is a mess - the reg tag is dated 1949. Dad used to freelance shoot and develop for insurance companies. I suspect that some of his images that were gruesome were destroyed. I do recall him mentioning a lady impaled by the steering column in a 30's Chevy. I hope that was destroyed.
It appears to be a chrome column support, if you blow the pic up there seems to be a reflection of the photographer near the dash.
