    My kind of A!
WHEN you send photos of your new shop, make sure your car is in the shot so the BOSS won't tell you it fits better in the Garage Journal.;)

Man! @Von Hartmann you gotta at least show the rear bars. I see them peaking out of that last pic. I can't wait to see what's next for this car. It's one HAMB story I need to see completed.

  6. Sure wish I had a "spare injected motor"!! Nice profile!!!

Hey Von Hartmann, haven't heard a peep from you since November, 2016... What's been happening with your coupe?

I don't get a chance to post here ever, but man i just had to say WOW you have some skills man. Looks like you have a pretty cool ass dad too. Your skills remind me of a guy on chop cult (boomboomthump) he also likes to make hand fabbed parts look cast. Question: If you were going to "build" your first hotrod, name me some tools you couldnt live without?

Check out his other thread, I believe he’s playing with a ‘57 drag car and mentioned using this coupes engine in it. Makes me wonder what he will stuff in this one? Couple real cool machines in competent hands!

This is all true, but let's hear Von Hartmann's plans on this awesome coupe! Seriously, with the work done so far, how can he NOT strive to finish her?

Still, he only needs to take a few minutes and post some updates... This coupe is turning out way too cool to let this build be at idle.

The OP (Ryan) and I talked for a little over an hour today and we chatted about the car and such. He's a busy dude with some neat things going on and a lot of knowledge.

The car is stalled out, obviously... priorities and such.

    Went out to Byron to visit Ryan (and drop off my coupe to him) and I spent a moment with the Freakin' A. It's still a bad ass hot rod. It's currently for sale, too. 20190719_203302.jpg 20190719_203308.jpg 20190719_203315.jpg 20190719_203321.jpg 20190719_203402.jpg 20190719_203407.jpg 20190719_203413.jpg 20190719_203433.jpg 20190719_203441.jpg 20190719_203444.jpg 20190719_203456.jpg 20190719_203506.jpg 20190719_203523.jpg 20190719_203531.jpg

Like the bobbed rear fenders, were they cut in back , or rolled forward and the running board sections cut? Bob

Yeah, this car's chassis is an inspiration for mine. I didn't get to pour over the car all that much the day I was around it but it was good to see it, in person.

I'll post my build as it goes along, I've gotten pretty far on it and have tons of pics, I just haven't taken the time to do a proper HAMB thread. If you like this car or Maratta's Missile (the Rake), mine should be a fun one to follow.

Hello all, I realize I have been very absent from the HAMB for some time now and another read through on this build thread leaves me with the understanding that when this project stalled out, there was no explanation for where it left off or what its future looked like. The truth is, I didn’t know the answer to that myself. This is a car I have never owned. I began working on this car after my father took over ownership from my brother and it quickly turned into a passion project of mine that I hoped we could see through. Unfortunately, he also lost interest in the car and moved on to other projects, causing this build to stall out. The car was given back to my brother in the fall of 2019. It currently sits in a storage facility and future build plans for the car are still under discussion.

In the fall of 2016 I began building a shop in a former 1952 heat treat facility. HAMBer -Brent- contacted me about building a chassis inspired by the Freakin’ A while I occupied that space and I’m genuinely grateful for the opportunity to have taken on such a project like Brent’s. A link to the build is here:
    https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/60s-era-street-strip-model-a-coupe.1159568/page-19

Here’s a few shots of Brent’s coupe with the Freakin A while they both briefly occupied the shop.

In July of 2021, I took possession of a new building. This one I actually own! This time, it’s a former 1967 Heat treat facility. It was in a pretty serious state of disrepair and after about 1 1/2 yrs of working on the structure, I was finally able to move my shop to the new location. I am currently reconnecting machines for upcoming projects.

As for the future of the Freakin A, it is yet to be determined. However, I reassure you all, if I am given the opportunity, I will be finishing the project in some shape or form.
