First of many questions! My '34 Ford frame is headed to the local rod shop for suspension. When I put the body back on, do I use some kind of cushion between the frame and body? The body and floor were fitted to the frame if that makes any difference. Thanks!
Yes you have to put some cushions between the body and the frame, you can use rubber strip in roll to put on the frame rails or put some rubber "pads" where the body mounts are. take a look at these threads and don't forget the search function is your friend! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=661550&highlight=rubber http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=655786&highlight=body+mount+rubber
I used baler belting from Tractor Supply on my 32' Chevrolet. Comes in 4" widths, cuts easily with a sharp razor knife, sold by the foot. Used contact cement to attach to the frame, worked great.
I always used what Henry used when he built it. Frame webbing available at any early Ford parts house. It's cheap and the proper thickness which can create a problem when aligning doors and fenders etc. later on.
