Frame ID, Model A?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by BOSTONCAMARO, May 29, 2013.

  1. From this one picture, can anyone ascertain if the frame in the right hand side is a Model A? or is it a T or something...I am not too familiar with frames yet..

    thanks

  2. Looks like Model A with those brake drums. I was looking more at what looks to be a REO truck in the background.

Yeah, it's a Model A. To find out specifics, look at the front crossmember:
If it's got 2 beads pressed in it (in the rear half, behind the spring channel; they go from front to rear, are 10" apart) then it's a '28-'29.

    Smooth crossmember is '30-'31.

Scrape the top of the left frame rail from the CENTER crossmember forward about 16".
    There lies the frame number.

That looks dead-on Model A to me. It's worth a look. The way it's deep in the weeds like that does not give me warm fuzzies. Look for rust through & brittle spots. You may luck out with it though since it looks like at least the rear suspension is keeping the rear crossmember out of the mud.

  8. thanks, I am going to take a look....

I agree with the others on it being a Model A frame.

The side ends of the rear crossmember stick out noticablly further on a T than an A
