We just bought this showcar that has been missing for 30+ years. was built sometime in the sixties by Colani Luigi. We bought it at an estate auction and nnobody knew anything about it. We are posting the story on our web site while we do research.First picture is how we bought it, second is how it appeared when finished in sixties.

This is how it looked a long time ago, when it was built in the sixties.

Should be interesting to find the OG parts to put it back together.

They are Miuri wheels and they are on backwards, we do not know why they are on backwards.

Looks to be assembled wrong. Strange design. Do the halves pivot when steering?

  18. built by an "artist" so there is no reason why.

    Artists just do

Car does not pivot. There is a shaft that connects the two parts and two rear shock post that hold up the rear wing sections. It is more a work of art than car, still really cool.

When I was in school for Industrial Design his name was brought up a lot. Very interesting designer. Everyone should Google him if they've never heard of him. Amazing stuff. Any idea on the exact year this car was released? I'd love to find more info on it. Also I know Mr. Colani has a private (I believe) museum at his headquarters Germany with a lot of his old cars there, you may want to try to contact him to tell him what you have acquired. He speaks English but is very hard to understand at times.

We do not believe the car ever ran. The lamborghini transaxle is complete and it does have front suspension that steers. Interior is sparse, no gauges or pedals, no wiring. We think it was only a concept car that toured in Europe. We have no idea how it got to the US . The US owner passed away, he had no family and the attorney handling the estate had no information.

Colani's website puts the year as 1974 (http://www.colani.de/, look under "Werk")

    Still freakin' cool though.

Exactly what I was going to say. If you asked me, I would've thought they were backwards on the other car.
