Got my side shift 30 years ago by accident thought it was a toploader 4 speed , friend was wrecking a vehicle and gave it to me . Used it in my 64 pick up with a 292 , what a surprise shifting into 4th the first time . Used it for awhile and pulled it ..
I looked for about a year for my iron case SMOD. I ended giving $250 for it. Rebuild kit with counter shaft, bearings, synchros, Gaskets, etc was $125. So all in all a good deal, I went from 12mpg to 18 in my mild 352 FE.
