    Hey guys,

I'm trying to remove this steering wheel and I don't know exactly what year it is to search for help. Can any of you identify what year of steering wheel this is? And additionally how to remove it? Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Apparently the cap spins off (persistence beats resistance) and I know how to remove it from here. I would still love to know what year it is. Thanks.

    1949 Ford...actually, might be '50.

  4. LMFAO I was going to suggest that you apply light pressure to the horn wring in an anti clockwise direction. :D

Now you are quickly becoming a real backyard mechanic. I am proud of you.

1949 was mentioned and I agree if that makes a bit of difference to anyone.

  6. I'm thinking a 50 Ford. Light downward pressure on the center of the horn button, turn it counter clockwise and off it comes. Socket on the nut next and you'll probably need a steering wheel puller to get it removed from the steering shaft after being frozen on there for 65 years.

From 1940 on Ford wheels have tapped 5/16 holes for a modern type puller. Keep nut on there, spun to the top of threads, to support use of puller.
