At the Marion County Swap meet I bought a really nice 40 Ford Steering column for my 29 Sedan. It cam with all the fixin's, shifter, ignition and steering box. One item missing was the steering wheel. I was told that a 39 steering wheel will not work, need to use a 40 steering. Any other years compatible with the 40 column? Thanks.
The bell (base flange of hub) is much wider than earlier models (although I thought 39 was the same as 40). Just does not look right on my 36 column. Still need a wheel?
Yup. Still looking for a 40 Wheel. I like the look of the 39 but am told it will not work on my 40 column. My column is complete including the bell.
