fullhouse296;YOU WIN!!! You would probably need a body guard with you to show that car here, even though Californaia is the land of Makebelieve!!! I enjoyed the guy on "Pass Time" that had the big block Ford in the Camaro and stumped their resident "Expert" !!! ROY

Let's see. A few years ago I saw a '34 Chevy pickup at the Detroit Autorama that had a flathead V8 in it, that was pretty cool. I've also been told that the SBF is a good swap into the (off-topic) 240-series Volvos, and Datsun Z-cars.

I always wanted to build a front-engine, Corvair gasser with a 361 Edsel (E-400), and call it "Two-Time Loser."

I never felt like the SBF was a nice-enough looking engine to make it worth swapping into something that it wasn't nearly a bolt-in (or things that have ridiculous size restraints), the FE and the Y-block are a different story, however.

  3. My son's '49 Chevy runs a 351 Ford, C-6, Nine-inch rear.
Saw a fairly new Vega back in '76 that ran a flathead Ford engine. This was, I assume, a statement to GM from the owner.

Man, it breaks my heart to see a Ford Anchor in a Chevy. Ford blocks should be melted donw and used to make new Chevy motors.

Well, it seems most people swap in a Ford 9 inch axle, why not finish the job with the rest of the good drivetrain?

I'm already looking for a 300 straight six/T5 combo for my '38 Chevy PU. Got a buddy who wants to put a flathead in a '57 Chev. Can't wait to see the look on the bowtie lover's faces.....:)

I love the logic of putting the SBF into a box Chevy II. Like the way Oldsmobile 350s and 455s are good swaps into Ford trucks. It's a design issue, not a brand issue.

That doesn't sound like a terrible combo.

    That does.

  21. Because almost all of my engines are FE's and my basket case 60 vette does not have an engine ?????

Yes --- the 60 slated for a 428 with either dual quads or 6X2. Toploader and either a dana 60 or a 9".

This is a really low buck project.

  22. This was my 53 Chevy.

I can't read this tread anymore. Put a Ford in anything but a Chevy. Man, when I see a Chevy with a Ford Anchor, I want to shoot the Chevy to put it out of it's misery, the poor thing!

The corvair and the edsel "TWO TIME LOSER", that's some funny shit!

We do owe the corvair a debt of gratitude, it's where the TURBO muffler origonated.

I'm looking for a 390 or 351W to stick in my '55 Buick 2 door hardtop. Yes, it will tick people off who think you have to stay loyal to the brand... but others will find it most cooooooool!

Heck.. I'd take an Edsel Ranger any day. The lines of the car were very cool, grills were unique too.
