I purchased the A to B conversion from Burt's. It does not seem like anything is lining up.

    1) pics of trans below - is this a B trans?
    2) pic of kit below. Do I have the correct kit?

Thanks for your help. I wanted to put the trans in today but hit this stumbling block! 20140614_120017a.jpg 20140614_120036a.jpg 20140614_120057a.jpg

Looks right to me, I had a B motor and trans in my 30 pickup for several years. Knocked the rods out of it twice and went to an H&H inserted Model A motor. Later gears will fit in the trans, I put a set out of a 38 in mine, syncro 2nd & 3rd. Motor is smoother but still limited on rpm's, not all B motors have the counterbalanced crank.

  3. Are you using a B or A motor? That is a B trans and should bolt right up to a B motor as long as you are using a B oil pan and flywheel housing. If you are using an A motor then you need to use the B flywheel housing and make a bottom to cover the lower half of the flywheel. As far as the correct kit I see a wishbone mount upper left, Brake/Clutch mount upper right, new clutch shaft center and E brake mount center bottom in your photo. Looks like it should fit. If you are using a B flywheel housing it will not bolt directly on the rear stock A motor mount. The bolt holes are different. You also need a B flywheel or lightened flywheel to use the B trans.

Thanks guys. After some grinding and drilling, I think the kit will work. I figured I would do all the fitup while the engine and trans are still out of the car.

B engine, B trans with Zephyr gears. Also put the Winfield Neutralizer (damper) on today as well. IMG_2128.JPG

Question from a novice. What do the lines on the oil pan do?

It sprays oil onto the crankshaft at higher speeds. I'm not sure if it's hooked up. The engine was build to run on the salt flats in the late 50's.

She's in. I just need to install the rebuilt trans tower and synchronize the 81's. Then we'll see what other gremlins emerge.

    That's a awesome mill!

Looking damn fine. I would love to know more of that external oil system. It looks to me like they is connected to each other. Where are the oil pump connected?

Do you know more of its history? More pictures? What ignition?
    Famous builder?

    This is engine p@rn!

  15. I would sure like a little more detail on the "grinding and drilling". Were you just cleaning up poor manufacturing or is there something basic that doesn't fit?

The mounting for the brake and clutch bracket was a little too wide against the bell housing. If I recall, I also had to massage it emergency brake mounting bracket .
