Technical Ford Leaf Spring Parts Question

I'm gathering parts to do the rear springs in my '59 Ford and I ran across some parts that are not part of my car, there is nothing between the shock plate and bottom of springs and nothing between the axle perch and the top of the springs.

The picture is off an online parts site. I checked a few sources and these parts seem to be native to the '57-59 Fords. Parts in question are #5741 and #5736 which are a rubber pad and steel plate. Do I need to have these in my car? Thanks.
