ford distributor question...

    Can I use a later style "big" cap on an earlier points distributor? Looks to me like I could any big differences?

    Could you be a little more specific. Year / motor to year cap. Do you mean the top of 2 piece plastic housing.?

    I don't think you can - it has been a while since I've held the later one in my hand, but believe the locating dowel to be different. Why not hit a junkyard & find one to try out on your small-style dizzy first?

    Unsure why you'd want to do this though...:confused:

    Yes you can but you will have to use the earlier "bail" retained cap adapter. I'll see if I can get you part numbers Monday.

    I found one...Don't know what year it is though..Uses the bigger cap with the spark plug type terminals and it has points..Just what I was looking for..
