That is so cool - when you done someone is going to tell you Ford made them for the rail companies or the forest service.

How much Excedrine have you gone through on this? The third door alone would have kept me up at night. Hell it's not even my project and I'm obsessing over figuring it out. Should be great when it's done.

fordf1trucknut....cool!! Thank you for that link. I heard there was a forestry truck but never saw one.

Think we should call this one a Ranger? Not implying that it's an original.

We have the same philosophy here, if they didnt make one and we want one than we build it! Looks great, i wonder how many people will ask why you put a ford grill in an old suburban.:D

    I vote for "ranger"

looks great.. this thing gonna make Cumberland??? we'll park our suv's together..

it should roll as a forestry service car..

olive drab, a forestry service sticker on the door.. perhaps a smokey bear ash tray..
ps.. loosing the stupid roll behind the stock shorty running board was a good idea.. (correction VERY GOOD)

I had thought about converting my old 48 pickup to a panel by using stock pickup fenders (narrowed) and the stock running boards.. so that it looked like a proper panel or sedan delivery..

I think it needs boards similar to a stock 48 pickup..

You got it right. Flatter roof and longer windows that's the way to do it.

  21. there was one in Street Rodder a couple years back. Think it was made from a 46 (maybe 48), kind of a burgundy color. Anyone else remember it?

I remember seeing that when you brought it home . You were telling me what you were going to make it into and looks like it is really coming along . You sure have been doing a ton of fab work on that truck !
I guess I will have to stop down next week and take a closer look !

    That is FINE!
    All wheel drive?
I'd put ALL the stock trim pieces on both ends so it looks original and invent a "Ford factory" owner's manual to put in the glovebox. Maybe get a hold of a panel truck manual and a station wagon one from that era for verbiage style references and write one up, photoshop some pics and print it up so it looks "real"?

Clark, that looks great.I like the looks of yours better than the Ranger, looks like they just cut square holes in the side for the windows.Yours look like the factory built them.Keep up the great work and post pics. Stony

Tell people it was a ranger, but the all wheel drive was impractical and you prefered the extra door and chop top so you cut it up. If I didn't know better I'd have a heart attack after hearing that!

I prefer the shape of your window openings over the original. Thanks for showing, very cool I dig it.

I'd say you nailed it on that one. It should be one great looking truck that will cause a lot of chatter when it gets out and running around.
