So I picked up this rear end the yesterday. The seller told me he thought it was a 38, the underside of the banjo is marked 9 40 so I believe it is a 4.44 to 1 ratio. What I am really having trouble identifying is the brakes that are on it. Here are a few pick hopefully someone can help. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thank you, I was thinking the same. I can't seem to find any definite pictures Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It is a '39 or newer rear end, Ford started with Hydraulic brakes in '39. Every thing earlier were mechanical brakes. .........................Jack
It's a '40-'41. (earlier rear would have wide-5 pattern; 4.44 rear suggests either pickup with 4 cyl. or passenger car with V860) Eccentrics at bottom of backing plate denote '40-'41 brakes. In '54, there was an ice cream man with a freezer box in the bed of a '41 Ford pickup. He said it had a 4 cyl. engine, I asked to see it. ('no such thing', or so I thought) He raised the hood, and sure enough, a "Model C" type banger. Rare... Blew my 12 year old mind!
Fantastic, I knew I could trust the experts on here to help me out. I'm new to the antique ford thing, but I'm loving it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Don't give me too much credit. The only reason i know this is because I have a 41 banjo and the grease zert fact just seemed to stick in my noddle.
