  4. When was this? Why are people wearing winter jackets in July?

  5. I don't see any rodent rods, just hot rods. HRP

  6. In Austin earlier in April two or three years ago. People wear jackets when it's chilly. What are you trying to say?

I am proudly a rust hater...sometimes what people call "patina", as well. I like every one of the cars in your pictures, though!

Does that "RRs" in the title refer to Righteous Rods?

  9. I agree, but drive or trailer (for long hauls only) any one of them to a show or just park it some where and virtually everybody(even some rod owners) will call it a rat rod guaranteed! And I see nothing wrong with a new build copying the look of true "worn". The pretty boys that look down their nose at anything thats wasn't bought for 200 g's irk the shit outa me more than any "rodent Rod" that some built themselves! That's not to say I don't like their cars, tho.

  13. Will be,
people in general are ignorant, and rodders are people.

As for your title, there is a very fine line between patina and decay (what many call rust). It is like the difference between porn and art, not easily defined and easy to spot. I do like patina and old solid but worn paint is as beautiful as it gets, I do also despise decay because of my reverence for machinery. Decay suggests disregard for something that I revere.

Trailering is a different story all together, some people trailer because they want to and others because they have to. long or short haul if your car won't make the trip then fix it, again it goes back to total disregard for something that should be revered.

Now if you are still reading you posted some very beautiful vehicles here. Thank you very much!!!

  14. Thought this was over the weekend. I'm from Detroit...but somewhere that doesn't have winter for a few more days. Heard it was cold in the Midwest and hoping to not break out the cold weather gear for another couple months

  15. Gotcha! I'm originally from two hours south of Minneapolis, many years ago. Drove back to northern Iowa from Mpls. in an old Jeep cj with a cloth top one winter day, thought it was cold. Turned out it was -30 degrees, 40mph wind, snow blowing and the wind chill factor was -95, moved to Texas!!

cool cars. guess you were trying to make some point I can't seem to see.

  17. Must have been a really cool show. Cool cars. Thanks

  18. In my opinion ........
Those builds are part of the back lash against the so called $200K cars being built and I agree, if you spend all that money and drag your car around in a trailer just to try to win something, you're missing the point. The cars in your post above are not my kind of build and, in my opinion, they kinda miss the mark. They are the other end of the spectrum from the hi dollar cars. Not rat rods, but..........
If it's rusty, I was always taught that you need to stop the rust. If it's been pulled out of a river bed and it's shot full of holes, don't just paint over the holes. If your going to paint your car, don't sand through the paint to make fake patina. Now that being said, there are builders out there who have the patina thing down, Rolling Bones comes to mind. Unfortunately, the media has picked up on this trend and you even have TV shows with these chuckleheads welding all kinds of shit together to make a car. My biggest concern is that ANY build be done safely, but it would be nice if there was a little more thought put into these kind of builds. But I guess they are just trying to be different, like everybody else. :)

    Well said.

The first 10 pics are right on the money. I dig it when people build period correct early stuff.

  20. Another one bites the dust. C'mon fellas; more (traditional) cars & less drama makes the HAMB a happier, healthier place.
