Good deal! Glad you didn't have to buy another distributor.

  2. Great stuff, nice to read it's running before Christmas. Maybe you can take it for a cold spin on the big day.

To see, and hear, it run, go to "Cool McCool's Garage", the link in my signature line. Next step, bleed the brakes and go do donuts in the snow...

I returned the too short fan belt to O'Rielley's, and asked for the next increment longer. The next longer one they had was 2 1/2" longer. AutoZone had one 44", the same length as the power belt that got chucked off, but it's too long by at least an inch. So I tried to finish bleeding the brakes, and discovered, not too surprisingly, that the rear wheel cylinders are stuck. They do leak real good though. New ones on the they way. Giving up on that, I trimmed the tops side opening to make up for the chop, to use as a (sort of) pattern. That looks good. Next, I drilled a hole in the drivers side head light reflector to mount the turn signal socket, and found that on the bottom it doesn't clear the mounting bolt. Dammit. So I drilled a hole on top, and I'll use some HVAC tape to cover the stupid hole in bottom. I wired the gas gauge, which reads 3/4 full with 6 gallons of gas in the tank. Sigh. I'll fill it and see what it reads full, and then make allowance for the error. Finished off with a glass of Pinot relaxing in the airliner seat and enjoyed the fire. That went very well... 25498269_10215735166034780_1557677672189732330_n.jpg 25552146_10215735166634795_4411470086918647853_n.jpg 25552176_10215735167554818_7086261653655375471_n.jpg 25591898_10215735167114807_5509583111808930299_n.jpg

No sugar plums dancin in her head, she's dreamin of warm days, long drives and droppin the hammer at every signal light in town.

If Santa had his way he would deliver gifts in a 34 Ford roadster!

I don't know why my photos loaded twice? Probably something I did secondary to the second glass of Pinot relaxing in that lounge chair...

  9. That looks like a vent for an excessively bright light...quite common on the driver's side. It's similar to the concept of purging smoke from your wires. Carry oo....as you were.

Yes, I totally meant to do that! And the challenge of un-wrecking an irreplaceable part! I should use the upholsterers rule: Whatever you do on one side, do on the other...

I love watching your projects come together, well done!
On the beat-to-death top color question, I think the white would tie in best with the firewall and wide whites.
Maybe you could mount a fine screen over the extra hole in the light housing, might make it look purposeful.
Congrats on creating a sweet ride.

Use that shiny silver exhaust tape they sell at Auto Zone, no one will see it through the lens...'cept for all of us.

  13. I like the pinot & air ride seat by the fire bit. Things are shapin up & lookin good. Just glue a white bulb in the hole & call it good. Some one on the board my have a replacement reflector these folks are pretty good for coming thru with hard to find pieces & parts.
Merry Christmas & have a pinot for me. 2008 191.jpg

Black socks, or those 70's style athletic socks that came almost to the knee would also be sweet!

There is a girl bartender (barwench?) up a the local watering hole that rocks a mini skirt and those 70's athletic tube socks with the colored stripes around the top. I still don't think they work with sandals. My wife doesn't have many fashion rules for me but that is one of them.
It's Christmas Bob, we'll let it slide. :D

Not to disparage Bob's sartorial sensibilities, but my guess is the bar wench pulls off the athletic sock and shorts look a bit better than Bob... ;-)

I tried putting on a Speedo once. It let out a squeal as it flew about the room like a deflating balloon, nearly put my wife's eye out and I never saw it again.

^^^Bob, I hope Santa brings you peace, happiness and a bag full of new socks to be worn as best you see fit.

Brian, this is your thread and there is a lesson to be learned from Bob, your spokes fit your car just fine! Hell with the fashion police, go with your gut (or your feet in Bob's case) and set your own trend.

I have been known to wear clothes not entirely suitable for the general public, but I try not to let anyone take my picture! Carry on gentlemen!

Shout out to Summit Racing: I ordered the temp gauge, wheel cylinders and a speedo cable day before yesterday. They were delivered yesterday, less than 24 hours later. Free shipping. Amazing.
