The thread was called. B-bops laid off make the best of it solo road trip.
I’m not savvy enough to link it, better get a lesson from a kid on how to do that.

  3. If you were searching onsite by the user name you probably did what I did. Searching for user "bebop" won't get you where you want to go. But searching for at least "b-" will bring up the correct user name. You just have to remember the "correct misspelling" in this case to find the right member.

Glad you're home safe man, looks like it was a hell of a trip.

I have to be honest, this thread sort of makes me want a Corvair to kick around. Looks like a really fun car.

That video is awesome! It wants me to get back out on the road, and bring my whole family to see the twine ball!

Dammit Clay, we Aussie's love a road trip to a 'big" attraction.

I had to watch that video all the way to the end. For the last day I've had the chorus stuck in my head... the kids think I'm nuts as it is, without me mumbling "...biggest ball of twine in Minnesota!" :):D

    Now I needs me a '53 De-Sota too.

    Cheers,
    Harv

He is something. As a kid I remember Doctor Dimento playing his stuff in the 70’s.

I can't believe it's been a year since I left dad's place with the Corvair. The year has been a blur, so much has happened.
I'll be heading back down there in November and trying to get some of the cars sold and get some work done on the place.

No more cars to road trip in? The last one was a helluva good time for all of us! I think.

I have to agree, fire another one of them up and take us on a trip. That was one of the best threads I have ever read, even referenced it on MoParts.

Unfortunately I missed Drag Week this year. I broke the Hemi in testing the weekend before and couldn't get it fixed in time. I was SO bummed. I moped and sulked the whole week.
    Repairs are under way.

I'm glad you guys liked it. It was definitely a once in a lifetime experience.
Nothing else at Dad's place could make the trip without spending months getting it ready.
Not to say some other epic road trip opportunity won't arise at some point. I hope so! I wouldn't mind finding a forlorn 59 ElCamino and doing a fly in, drive home. Or an Auburn speedster.

I've seen the cars...I'll vouch for the "spending months getting it ready"!

It's funny...just reading Joel's and the others comments on a new adventure I thought of you, Racerx and Joel all going to the Late Fathers estate and picking a project and all thrashing a ride together and making a epic ride back to a chosen destination to celebrate...kinda like the Lemon race but with on topics if there actually is say 3 available...maybe they could be sold off for a good cause at the end...

...and perhaps a Hamb friendly meet and great with those within range of this would add to the rally of sorts...through the states involved...

Reading your comment I also now believe you're saying that might be a long drawn out deal due to condition...

Joel, l believe I’d ride almost anywhere with you. As long as I did not have to follow you in the bathroom. I’d be up for another road trip adventure!

Hey Joel, what is the status of the Corvair? I followed along but don’t recall if you mentioned it or not.

Joel, I hope you find that 59 El Camino, and if it has a brother, even if it is a 60, let me know and I'll be there in a hot minute to road trip with you!!! Love those caminos.

I made it home just in time to put it in storage for the winter. My wife really likes it.
I haven't really done much with it because of not being full owner, but now my brother and sister have decided they don't want it, so I am going to buy out their share. Once that is complete, I am going to improve it but preserve the originality. Like lightly clean and buff the paint, have a paintless dent guy look at it and fix what he can without risking any paint, put the turbo back on, fix the gas gauge, fix the back up lights, and have fun. I might re-stuff the front seats, too.

That must have been Sad and exciting at the same time. I bought 73 cars a few months ago and 2 of them are Corvair's in case you need parts.
