I'm a three pedal guy so this flexplate shit's all new to me. On this here '62 283 Chevy engine the flexplate's not turning true, like a warped Phil Collins' record. My question is, when I bolt it to the torque converter will that true it? Seeing as how the torque converter is stiff will it pull everything together? I don't want to try and pull that cast iron PG POS after it's all together. Thanks.
If its warped that bad, its probably best to replace it, otherwise you may have starter/flexplate ring gear interference too. I just built a 350 for my brother-n-law, the plate on that was warped also. I picked up a cheap replacement for 25 bucks.
The engine's on a stand and I can see the flexplat'e not flat just by turning it by hand. Thanks I'll buy a new one then. Wait! I was told that the six cylinder flex plate in my car is interchangeable and that one's 100% good. Cool deal.
