this has probably been talked about but couldn't find it. would like to get rid of the teapot carb on my 51 merc. is there a carb that will bolt up to the stock merc intake? if so can I still run the stock dizzy? any info on this will be greatly appreciated.

The 2g carb bolts on, but the merc intake bores are slightly smaller and should be opened up to match the carb. Try to find a carb from a 283 if you can. You still may have to swap jet sizes. The stock loadamatic distributor will not work with this carb. I have a 2g on the flatty in my pickup, also running a converted Chevy distributor from Bubba's. Runs great!
