Over here in the UK we have a coupe of great Hot Rod themed Drag meets every year, the Nostalgia Nationals in June & the Hot Rod Drags in September. At these meets agroup of 'Traditionalists' run the Flathead Meltdown, basically anything street driven & Flathead powered. This year was a bit special because a while back we lost a guy by the name of Tony Cardy to Cancer. He had a Flattie powered street driven T that ran a 12.2 over the quater, and his time remains unbeaten. As a memorial to him all the guys made an extra effort and they had over 20 flathead powered rods running up the strip. Here's some of my pics, more to follow.....
Superb weekend and fantastic turn out of Flatties, 25 racing with plenty more on the campsite. 3 running superchargers, one methanol fueled flathead slingshot and multiple cars running 14 second passes. The final was a cracker with both Jim and Neil running sub 14s and Neil crossing the line at over 100mph, both cars being street driven and on crossplies. Roll on the Hotrod Hayride and their first ever hosting of a drag racing event along with the Detonators.
BTT for anyone who's missed this thread. Traditional Flathead powered hotrods en masse, racing and setting world class records...... come on
Wery nice I would have loved to get there with my flathead dragster, but i don't know if i have the money to go. We have checked with shipping, and is very expensive to get from Norway to the UK with a trailer!? We plan to run it in Sweden this fall, trying to set a new euro. record with a flathead!!!??? ................................ Taildragger&fenderless
Fantastic fenderless, do you have any photos of your FED? We've got a couple here in the UK and a very healthy love affair with anything powered by Henry's sidevalve have a look at www.flatheadmeltdown.com for an idea of what's going on

Nice pics as always JP, lovin the one of me smoking the tyre in my roadster. It was a great way to pay tribute to Tony Cardy and I was proud to be part of it. Here's a little bit of video (sorry for the wrong aspect ratio) of me smoking the tyres (or tires) thinking I was doing good until JT showed me how to do it properly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOAaGoXMTMY And another one of us heading for the fire up lane. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4abhy4hTwuQ&feature=player_embedded#at=11 Pete
