Hot Rods Flathead V8 gearbox question

A friend and I need a measurement from a flathead gearbox.

Anyone got one handy, and has the time to take this measurement?

How far does the input shaft come out of a Flathead V8 gearbox? Can you measure the distance from the case to the end of the input shaft?

No, just need a V8 'box.

I believe they are all interchangeable, but I am no expert.

 

Ran to the barn & measured a '37-'39 - looks like 2 & 3/4" .
