    HI Gents...
Found a very very nice flathead starter. Thats the good news, the bad is, it's too long for my 8RT bell housing starter "can". This starter is roughly 6.400 long from the mounting flange to the end of the bendix. Has anyone out in HAMB land just fabled a new starter pocket to accommodate a long starter. I don't want to knock off the existing starter can and find out nothing else works...
Have no idea where this starter came from...possibly an auto trans flattie?
    As always, thanks g

All Ford/Merc flathead starters are close enough to be interchangeable, to the best of my knowledge. My guess would be overhead Ford/Merc/Lincoln up to mid '60s.
