I have a '46 flathead ford pickup. I finally got the starter in and the electrical system hooked up. I have noticed with the key off the starter button still has power. Is that normal for older cars?

on 1949 ford trucks we used to wire a n/o switch to the clutch pedal so the starter button would not work without the clutch being engaged. Guess pop got tired of repairing the barn.
