flathead question...

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 40oz., Sep 13, 2010.

  1. can some one tell me if the stock temp sending unit will work with modern stewart warner gauge. its a fairly long unit that looks to reach deeper and actually touch the coolant where as the s.w. unit with the adapter looks like it keeps the sender up and out of the coolant. anyone? thanks.

If for a flathead Ford or Merc I don't think so.

Not worth the trouble IMO, get 2 mechanical gauges on it, then you know what is going on

The stock early Ford temp sending units will not work with aftermarket gauges.

The stock temp sending units were made to operate on 6V. I doubt if 12V will work.
You may have to reduce the voltage to 6V.
