I'm putting together a 59A motor with this oil pan. It looks to me like standard 46-48 passenger car but I want to make sure before I buy the wrong oil pump pickup for it. Thanks!

Which oil pump are you using? If you are using the stock "long" pump, there
is only one pickup that will work. Short and bolts right next to the pump.

I don't have a pump yet either. I was thinking of using a Melling high volume, does that give me options on the pickup?

The Melling pumps that everybody sells are the later model, for trucks I believe. They are commonly sold with the corresponding pickup and screens to fit them. You will need to remove the baffle in your pan for it to fit. And sometimes you will need to heat and bend the pickup's arm a little for clearance as it may be a bit too close to the pan. Check it out with some clay before final tightening.
