I just watched a pretty cool flathead video called "All the Oddities of Ford's Famous Flathead V8 (Full Engine Build)". I imagine many of you have seen it before. There's probably nothing about the rebuild that most of you haven't seen &/or done yourselves. The build is by Keith Dorton of Automotive Specialists. The interesting thing, though, is at around the 1:15 mark. This is a video/movie of the Ford factory showing them lifting & swiveling an engine/transmission into place. The mechanism they are using is what fascinated me. I'm not recommending that you use this lever/chain/hook method of lifting one of these beasts yourself but I found it to be very interesting. It's only shown for 4-5 seconds so I had to back up and look at it a couple of times to make sure I was seeing what I thought I was seeing. Below is a screen shot. I had to save this to a MSWord file; then save as a png file; then upload to here. It's not as clear as it will be if you watch the YouTube video. It shows what I'm talking about, though, should you decide to skip watching the video. You'll notice that the guy on the left had to have a goodly amount of body heft in order to perform this.
