So hello every flathead experts. My name is Spencer and I am building my first flathead. I went crazy and got my self some old edmund heads and triple carb setup stromberg 97s but I started disassembling the engine. I got the rods out and the bearing don't look like what I was expecting to be a used motor. Can anyone explain. I was expecting them to be worn. Also I would like some suggestion on internals. Not building a blower motor. It has the original ford script rods. Suggested bore size and cool tips u recommend. I would really appreciate it. Thank you. [IMG][IMG]

Did they come from the factory with ties like that?

That pitting on the bearings is caused by acid in the oil. most likely sitting for a long time

Thank you I assumed it was from sitting. I don't think anything is fast in this things almost everything seems like it's from the factory. All ford scripts even the bearings.

Is it a 21 stud or 24 stud motor (head bolt studs)? If 21 stud, where is the water outlet, center of head or at front?

24 and the water outlet is on the center. I have a 8b motor which they are close to the front of the head
