Looking for a source for rear axle/leaf spring U-bolts (3" diameter axle tubes) that
are either manufactured or machined FLAT on the inner diameter at the point of contact
with the axle tube. I have multiple bolts that are round at the contact point, and they work
fine for mock up....but the round ones compress and "indent" the axle tubes. Any one?

I've seen u bolts like that for u joints, but never in a large enough size for an axle. It wouldn't be too hard to machine spacers to spread the load. Turn a ring with the ID equal to the axle OD then machine a groove on the outside to fit the u bolt and cut it in half for 2 spacers.
    regards,

I don't remember ever seeing an axle tube that was noticeably indented by a U bolt.

All Mopars had the flattened U bolts with a crosshatch anti-slip pattern on the inside, so they wouldn't crush the axle tubes. And Ford. GOOD engineering!. A place called AMK has them with many other special bolts and fasteners. They have a big catalog, 10 or 15 bucks, but well worth it! www.amkproducts.com
