Technical Flat head motor ID

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by stillrunners, Jun 20, 2021.

  1. Picked this up at Charlie's shop - an old engine builder that had passed. New it wasn't a T or A motor but thought it might be an early Jeep motor as I mess with those. Anyway hated to see if scrapped as it looks like he just finished it. Most likely an industrial application like fork lift. Need to find a home for it - thanks for any help ! 20210620_184026.jpg 20210620_183731.jpg 20210620_183610.jpg 20210620_183522.jpg 20210620_183513.jpg 20210620_183505.jpg [ATTACH

That looks like the Continental engine I need for my 56 Terratrack loader. What does the top of the head have for numbers. Can you post pictures of it? Should say size cast into it.

Jeep would have the manifolds on the drivers side, and a flat on top the deck where the water pump mounts with serial numbers

  6. Shit - posted from my phone - guess why the double or triple pictures.
    Thanks Jim !
I can get better pictures of the head tomorrow. Have had it stored over in the corner and the nephew is wanting to get busy on our CJ-2 and had forgot about this sitting in the corner. Have the crank from the Jeep and it's not a match so I knew I was in trouble.

Do have one of the last or should be last flathead's he built for Robert - who sold me his 39 coupe.

Charlie was a paraplegic from his teen years in the early 50's when he was hit on his bicycle.

    Thanks guys !

    CJ2...
I have one of those. Mine is a 1947 CJ2A "farm jeep" with a drawbar and rear PTO.
It has sat outside for a while and I should have my ass kicked over that. It's one of those, I'm always going to get to it....but I never do.
If you want I'll share some pics in the "Antiquated forum"

  10. Not Willys or Jeep.
I have a CJ2 A for my Belly Tank project and its not that.JW
