If I only had one car I might not have flames, I like them so I have both flamed car and non-flamed cars.

Flames are OK, as long as they're not on my cars. I too have never been a huge fan of flames.

I like flames on certain cars, in particular, '40 Fords. Flames can either make a car or ruin a car, much like a paint color. The new stuff is not flames, its fire. To much in my mind.

Like most on here, I say yes and no...really depends on the car AND the skill of the painter. My favorite is Dennis Ricklefs.

Ringo had flames on his '57. I like the yellow - orange with blue pinstripe look.
    Barris painted it.

Doing a thumbs up or down down thing with flames is like doing the same choice for any feature paint, wheels, tires, upholstery, ......... There are so many styles of flames & so many cars with so many levels of finish and purpose. It's like asking ENGINES, THUMBS UP OR THUMBS DOWN?

I've said it before. They look better on your car than on mine. I appreciate a really nice flame job on a car when I see it but I would never own one. I don't keep my cars forever and flames would hurt the ability to sell it when that time came. I like to build my cars to look conservative traditional and avoid trends. (Think khaki pants and button down shirt. They never go out of style.)

  18. ^ Yep, flames aren't what's ''safe''! Gotta step out of a comfort zone to make a bold choice like that. Yes, the audience is smaller. [IMG]

    Sam Hollingsworth's '57 Nomad is a stunner.

  23. I'm back and forth on seaweed flames on my F100, so I did a PhotoShop rendering in the approximate colors/style I'm considering. Yay or Nay?

I’ve always liked ‘em on the right cars! Love the seaweed style! I have a ‘50 Hudson Commodore that is probably gonna get some… a lot of my friends say don’t, makes me want to do it even more!
