Come on people, we have all seen this car before. Speed Racer's Dad drives one in the credits of the cartoon.
Front wheel drive. Guess we were destined to have it as our daily driver. Machinery of the past is remarkable when you take into account the manufacturing process.

I remember reading about this vehicle as a kid and think the original exploded killing the driver and some bystanders. I could be wrong.
Also the Marquis de Dion is arguably the builder of the first "reliable" internal combustion engine and trembler coil ignition. Most early Automobile builders used or copied his single cylinder design. Oh ya he was French.
