    1966 Chevrolet with 2 speed rear, 4 speed (granny +3??) and 327.
I think the family farm use for that one was that it had a grain-bed.
It was just like how I had imagined it after years of reading car mags.
    I was 13 or 14.

1976 MG Midget, that thing got 38 mpg repeatedly and I drove it to and from college for 4 years. Great car, lousy engine/tranny.

Some early 90s mercury econobox. It was my friends car and we roasted the clutch in a month. I must have side stepped the clutch 10 times in that thing...

1953 Pontiac Chieftain, with a 2nd gear that would engage ~50% of the time. It was 1969, I was 14 -15, would sneak it out when i could or later drove with a permit.
Wish i still had the car. Very solid car for $35, bet i could sell if for more now.

50 Ford grain truck, I was 8 years old, I was to drive it from a field about a mile from the farm and park it by the garage. All is well as I drove it in low gear slowly to the farm, but when I went to stop it I just pushed in the clutch like I did on the tractor, oops, I ran over the metal scrap pile and that stopped it. No harm, no foul! Scared the crap out of me. ~sololobo~

  23. I was fortunate enough to have an uncle who was crazy about old cars and would let me drive anything he had before I was 16. I learned to drive a manual transmission in their '40 Ford stake truck, but also drove his '40 Chevy, '41 Lincoln, '30 Model A panel, '40 Chevy pickup and a few others that I can't remember. Coolest part of the story, I now have the '40 Ford stake truck.

  24. A 1965 Izuzu sedan...used to drive it in a field like a dune-buggy( before I had a licence!)...would not drive anything else! Everyone should have to learn to drive stick to get their licence, would weed out people who should not drive anyway (unless disabled)

A little shit hook delivery mini truck. I was working at one of my first jobs at about 16 years old. I'd rode dirt bikes but not manual in a car. A driver called in sick at work so the boss tossed me the keys and I didn't argue! I did pretty well other than romping the hell out of it starting out on hills because I was nervous!
