I got some color on some parts today! It's nice to see some parts in final finish. I will be spraying some of the grey parts tomorrow. Then blocking on the body parts. Pushing hard. Hope to have it all painted by the first weekend in August. I am lucky a friend is letting me use his paint booth for the body.
Got the frame in primer today. Paint Monday evening hopefully. Also a little preview of the two colors together. Frame, belt molding, fender wells and fire wall will be the maroon and the body will be the grey.
Not this year. Putting this car together for the hill climb in September. I have my hands full right now!
Busy evening after work! I have a roller. The wife came out and helped me assemble the front suspension so I can now roll it around. Body paint next!
awesome build! very inspirational for my Special coupe as well. Any chance you have some up close shots of your panels above the doors and their attachment points? when i bought my body the panels that were included seem to be from a different car.
@CadTech there are a few above in this thread. I will try and remember to snap a few pics for you when I unmask it. It is currently all taped up while priming and painting.
I have to give credit for a lot of the frame fabrication to my brother Tom. I could have definitely not done as nice of a job with out him.
Thanks for the kind words @cactus1. Stay tuned for a lot of progress quick. I am painting the body starting Wednesday and once the body is back in my garage full speed ahead. The motor and trans are all ready to go in and there are lots of parts just waiting to be bolted on. I have 45 days until the Hot Rod Hill Climb!!!
Exciting evening. Moved the body to my friend's shop. He graciously volunteered use of his spray booth. I am starting early the next 4 days and hope to have it all painted and back into my garage by Saturday night. Updates will be coming!
Finished most of the painting on the body yesterday. Put the engine and transmission in today. The body is hanging out in the paint booth for a few days and will be coming home Tuesday evening. Going to look like a car in no time.
Yes. I have been leaving reminders on things. Moving so fast on this assembly it is easy to forget things. With the Float a motor style mounts I wanted to run some Nylon lock nuts and needed a reminder to get some and tighten. There is a label on the trans and rear to remind to put fluid in. I also used some tape on other things to keep dirt out and things like that. With the E brake cables I didn't want to cut them to length until final assembly so I wrapped them up and tied them together with tape when I put the rear together a couple of months ago.
That's a good idea. It would also work if someone is taking a long time on a project. That would be me! Ryan.
Brought the body home from paint today! Full speed ahead. Will I make the hill climb in about a month?
