This past weekend was the first West Texas Roundup out here in Lubbock, TX. It ended up being a great show. It's the first Traditional show that I've ever heard of in West Texas. There were cars from Oklahoma, Colorado, New Mexico and all over Texas. They had live music, pinup contest, vendors, a metal working class put on in their shop by Jesse Miller, and a full bar and grill. Trent Sherrill was there also snapping photos and picked my '55 as his choice for a free photoshoot! Way cool! Here's some shots and I'll see if I can post some video too. Try and make it out next year for the show, the venue alone is worth the drive.
Aw, man. I sold and delivered a car to a guy in Lubbock the weekend before. Wish my timing was better, I'd like to of checked it out.
Looks like a real cool place and a good show . Looks like the Jetter Boys were there. I'll drive past there on my way to Austin next week and see it.
I've posted about it before, just tough bc the events section doesn't let people post about things other than H.A.M.B. Events. That and anything on the main page disappears pretty fast. I'll try to mention is more next year, they plan on it becoming an annual deal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Don't just drive by j3harleys, stop in - there's a restaurant and bar inside and more neon signs than you'll see anywhere else. BTW, Lubbock is 550 miles from my home-put 1262 miles on the Caddys round trip. Weather was good other than the constant wind out of the southeast... It is an annual deal - for traditional cars only...next year it'll be a bit later in the year, perhaps a week before Austin to capture some of you guys heading to the Lone Star Round-up and there's an open rod run scheduled for September of this year. We had a great time in Buddy Holly's home town, plenty of restaurants/bars (except Ruby Tequila's-they don't know what Mexican food is...!!!), plenty of motels and of course, the Buddy Holly museum... R- PS, RoadFarmer -your 55 was most deserving of the "Best Paint" award...gorgeous gasser...
I will stop. My 12 year old grandson is going down with me. I think we will make that our first night stop. I don't usually eat Mexican food any place but here. Maybe I'm to picky.
The purple merc was from Amarillo and had been chopped by Dick Dean. The blue '60 Pontiac was raffled off...I tried but no dice.
