  1. Looks good Mike! Was wondering what you had gotten accomplished this month. Keep at it. Did you locate an engine yet?

  2. Thanks guys. Walt, I haven't had much luck finding anything worth a crap so i'm just going to put a new crate 350 in it.

  4. A productive weekend with Mikes29. We almost have everything mocked up. Just need to finish the radiator, finish the 32 tank mock up and tear everything back off to finish welding everything and finish the firewall. Then on to painting the chassis.

  5. Another weekend at it with mikes29. Tank mocked up and tacked. Front end done. Interior gutted, floor mocked up. Next up, mock up the rest of the steering and tear it all down.

Keep the pics and info coming. You're doing what I'm going to start in a few days. I bought a '30 Model A from a fine gentleman in Murray, Ky. and I have a 454 and a narrow 9 inch ready. Not exactly a HAMB car but close. Only thing I dread is the firewall cut.

Love the look. Its really coming along. Maybe a flathead in its future hopefully after you get it on the road with the SBC. Good luck.

  8. Thanks guys or the encouragement. I'm lucky to have good friends to help. There is no way I could do this alone.

Car looks great ! Ditch that sbc. They sure are nice for a reliability standpoint .. But that car would look good with a hemi or a small block ford. Roller 5.0 or something

If you are not keeping a rumble seat why not put the gas tankin the trunk, I think they look neater that way...
Aaaaah but maybe you don't want opinions.......

  11. I am keeping the rumble :)

What a cutie, that should convert to a nice little hot rod and not ruin a thing. As mentioned, enough of these in museums. Like your game plan, congrats! ~sololobo~

  14. Haha My wife wishes it was for AC. It's the hole cut for a patch panels. There were several cracks in the firewall where the hood rod bracket was. We decided to just cut the section out and patch it. Once we pull the motor back out then the holes will all be filled in, smoothed out and painted.

  15. Thanks man, I appreciate it.

  16. She is finally mocked up as the gas tank has been cut. Finished the steering and started test fitting he seat. Next up, complete tear down so Mikes29 can finish welding the chassis and the firewall. After that then it's time to paint the chassis, firewall and begin final assembly!

sheet ,,,,,wish mine was even close to being that nice when i got it , i put all of my car in the back of my truck and brought it home,, the body pieces and a frame , you lucky dog ,,,

  23. Hey Joe, the seat is just sitting on 2 2x4's that are resting on the riser. Still need to fab up mounting brackets. The seat will fold down to give access to the trunk area and then flip up to access the storage under the seat. The plan is for black tuck n roll on the seat.

  24. Lol thanks man, before signing the car over to me the previous owner asked me if I was a hot rodder and if I was going to "ruin" the car by cutting it up. I said I was gonna drive it like it is. I did for about 2 weeks ;)

I used a caravan seat as well. It is sitting directly on the stock riser with the exception of a piece of 1 inch square tubing along the front edge to kick the seat back a tad for some angle.
It also served as a mounting point for hinges so I can tilt the whole seat up and forward to access the storage area.

Its lined up even with the front of the riser as well. I had to trim a bout two inches out of the package tray.
Im 6' with all the leg room I could hope for

  29. I plan on doing a similar set up with the hinge. It's nice that the set folds for for access to the trunk and it's nice to flip forward for access under the seat. Space is a premium on these cars especially when keeping the rumble. I'm 5'10 so I got a little extra leg room ;) How much chop is on your car?
