Looks great so far! Are you going with a 32 grille shell or staying with the A look?

  6. Thanks man, staying with the A shell

Nice car to start with, I like your plans. Can't wait to see the finished product, sounds like it's gonna be awesome.

That statement brings back memories. When I first got my A back in early high school I didn't have enough money to start on the av8 conversion but I had a perfect '32 grille shell and insert hanging on my bedroom wall. I transplanted it on the A and drove it for about 6 months until I saved up the coin to start the conversion. Couldn't count how many people stopped me and asked what I had under the hood simply because it looked like a hot rod with only the grille change.
Keep posting your progress, every installment stimulates the memory bank for me.

  10. Got the brakes mocked up over the weekend, messed with the steering a little, went to the local Pull A Part with Mike and got my rear end and a new seat, cleaned up the rear end, starting mocking up the rear bones and rear end brackets then we ran out of 3/8 steel and had to stop. Big thanks to Mike (mikes29) for all of his help this weekend. 11. We needed to test the front suspension and I needed weight similar to the engine. Mikes29 was nice enough to lend a hand. ImageUploadedByTJJ1354497057.196289.jpg

  12. I think I will leave it like this, maybe get a visor to keep the bugs out of my teeth. ImageUploadedByTJJ1354497136.438120.jpg

  13. Looking good Mike. What did you pull that seat from? See you are using the new drive by wire steering or did I not see the column in the pic!???

  14. Hey man thanks, The seat was from a 97 Dodge Caravan. I am going with a Vega cross steer system

Looking good. Keep the pics coming we are in about the same stage of our build chassis wise anyway. How much clearance you going to leave between the frame and rear end?

Looks like fun. What a nice piece to start with!

  17. It's hard to say right now since we are still mocking it up and designing the brackets. I will let you know once we get it worked out.

Like the build so far, I am in the process of doing the exact same thing except I drove the car only about a mile before pulling the body off. Looking forward to your progress.

  22. road block...I just found out today after tearing the motor apart that I bought a junk motor and nothing is salvageable. Now I'm looking for a new power plant. At least I have a really big paperweight now.

  27. Yes, brought home my latest "ran great when pulled" block and will now set it in it's designated spot in the "museum" as a reminder of deals gone bad! More garage art as they say.

  28. Time for an update, me and Mikes29 got the rear end just about finished. Just need to fab up the shock mounts and install the real coil overs and pan hard bar. The car now rolls. :)

  29. Quick update, set the body on the chassis to check for any clearance issues. Everything looks great and I think I'm really going to like the ride height. More updates to come.
