Im thinking of building a rear bumper for my roadster and would like pics of cars you've seen or own for ideas...may not build one at all but considering it...thanks guys
There is no limit of nerf bar designs, those are cool. If I used one,I like simple is best. On my own "A",its a bobtail so hard too get anything looking right. I do have a rack, that can be bolted on or removed with big wingnuts,as needed or even just folded up,as in pic.. It could be called a rear bumper or a handy folding rack. I have used it for my Wife's wheel chair, also for big cooler or box of as needed junk going to BBQ.

This is all you need to pull it off. HRP https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/32-ford-rear-frame-horns-and-crossmember.1161832/
Mine is made from a driveshaft safety hoop kit I bought at a swap meet. Same material used as from my Speedway nerf bar kit I used for the front but the hoops are a bit larger in diameter.
Well, I bobbed the frame, only because I wanted the ride height lower. Of course the tank is inside now too. Sent from my XT1710-02 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
used a pair of upside down model A frame horns welded to the rear of the frame... buddy got me a stainless adjustment tube from an eye doctor's office welded nuts inside the end caps... bolted it on...
HRP; My comments were ‘tongue in cheek’, as some months back he asked a similar question regarding his coupe, and I posted a photo of this car.......... https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/32-five-window-highboy-rear-roll-pan.1146060/ ...........which is just perfect........
Actually...this is exactly what Im fixin to do...picked up some 1 1/4" stainless tubing and 3/8" stainless plate...will start on it tomorrow then polish and install...love this simple look...Ron
I like the spreader bar look. Mounting brackets attach directly to the Model A frame at the rear corners. Simple to make and very attractive.
If it was me I don't think I'd put a bumper on it but if I did it would be one like on @scrap metal 48
for my 33 pickup, I'm planning on a single piece of 1 3/4" roll cage tubing with rounded hemisphere ends welded on. The rounded ends being the only parts that stick past the sides of the bed of the truck. I like simple Also planning that for the front as well, except the rounded ends will be threaded on, which will sandwich the bumper tube in-between the frame rails.
I posted a request over on the Photoshop thread, and three of the artists over there came through with these variations. First is a narrowed Deuce bumper (my favorite and my suggestion), a narrowed early Camaro bumper, and, lastly, a pair of split Model A bumpers.
^^^^ yea, but at least he is throwing ideas out there, and an adaptation of them could be workable. I actually like the second one, except that it looks too much like a Mk 1 Cortina consul that was my first car......... And the third one would look better if the bumpers were further apart, more over the wheels, looking from the front.
