Well:) Abit slow progress for the moment.
Used a couple of week prepairing for a Show, Oslo Motorshow, did that so now we are back on track:)
Have innstalled 8 out of 16 valves. We ended up with
    0,013" and 0,015" cold.
Talked to the guy who helps us with the gaskets, and he's doing stuff today:)
We need to recheck the valves to head clearence, before making final cut. So if no more trouble comes along, we should be able to let her down in the chassis in a couple of weeks:)

Man, I wish all you guys would quit posting FED stuff so I can focus on getting my garage buttoned up and heated for winter, then get my truck to pull one done.

  4. Hey Kjell . . . what are you having the head gaskets made out of?

    SORRY:D

My friend called today, is going to make a trial in steel, just to see that it fits. Then make a final gasket out of copper.
If you any ither idea on material? let me know:).
What about making head gasket out of composite material?

Hi Kjell, just stumbled across your build today. Cool beans!!! I may have missed it, but did you get your heads o-ringed? What is your static compression ratio. With patience and i'm guessing a little hair pulling you've sure built a good looking piece. Cheers!!! Allan

    Thanks guys:)
We did degree the cam yesterday:) and the good part, we don't need to
anything on the timing:) So now it's just some minor work, and let her down in the pipes:D!

We will try the heads without o-ringing them, but if they leeks, then we have to go that rout.
Don't know the excact static compression rate, but i figure about 8-8.5 as we have shallow releiving, but have taken some out in the heads.

Buddy, i'm shure gona post a video when we fire this thing up:D!
As a Sony dealer, i will probaly get decent camera, with a correct microphone to get the sound right:)!
But first i will have to get her down in the chassis, made an engine lift plate today, so we are soon getting there.
Betveen Xmas-tables and other xmas preperations, i will try to let her down, so we can do the final fabrications.

PS. This picture was taken with my phone, sorry out of focus!

    Hello guys:)

    Happy new year:)!
Seems like i have done a big mistake!?
As i have run with the flathead before, i didn't bader to messure or
mockup the new engine inn, major mistake!
Now, with the new(Old) engine inn, i discovered that the angle of the engine/trans. was wrong, it have been tilted uppward atleast 2" in the front of the engine. This was don probably to clear the exhaust pipes from chassis. As you can see, all the ports now point directly towards the upper chassis tube with the "package" in the right position:eek:!
So a litle setback, but should be ok to fix, just some cutting and welding and we will be back on track:)!
Some other pictures of the frame, inncase someone could recognize the chassis?

Afaulk, you should probably start a new thread about a chute pack body rather than hijack this thread, but contact Brian Fox at King Chassis. Just google King Chassis and you'll find the contact info.

  18. Happy New Year Kjell,
are you saying you relocated the front motor mounts so that engine is now in a different location? do you have enough room to change the exhaust to run down?

    Thanks Carl:)

The ports point more or less staight toward the upper frame tube.
So no other option than cut&weld:eek:!
A fast illustration on how i think we will do it:)!

  21. Hey Kjell - Happy New Year to Yah!

Whups - looks like it is time to cut and splice. Is this a mild steel or a chrome moly frame? If it is CM, make sure whomever welds it is an accomplished TIG welder and understands how to do the job.

I'm probably telling you things you already know, but if it is CM tubing, here is a cool little link:

    http://www.weldingtipsandtricks.com/welding-4130.html

I don't think it will be a big deal to "fix it" - just some tubing bend work and some good welding techniques . . . nothing you guys haven't probably tackled before.

I'm looking forward to seeing this thing fire!

  22. Don't forget to sleeve your splices

  23. Good point - you can't just butt weld them! Having some rosette welds past the joint would make sense to me - do you do this as well?

A really good day, lots of thrashin:)
Me and Grinder1 managed to fit and change the new tubes:)
Just some minor adjustment, then TIG finish.
Also have to take it one more round in the welding both, so we can tack the exhaust tubes on the new flange.

i've been following your thread and have been inspired in many ways, but today was the first time i noticed this build was going on here in norway, i was probably distracted by the great build. ;) hope to see this in action one day.
