I know the new monthly thread has started, but I'll answer here.

The 7.5 was very drivable, but I had a 5 speed behind it. I went with the 6.5 in my coupe because that is what I had available, the block was questionable and I'm running a stock trans in it. The coupe ran high 11's @ 56 mph in the 1/8th mile last year.

@Crazydaddyo thankyou. Just trying to get a gauge on the limits & my plans. It has been very helpful.

  5. Ugh, yes they do break.
Maybe a fillet radius issue? looks like an early beaver tail crank, no?

Just curious how and why are these cranks breaking so much? Is it the vibrations these engines put out or just parts that can't handle it?

Thank you John just about what I thought I have had the flywheel work loose but could not see it exploding as some have said. I agree it is good to beef up the back flang by welding and a proper radius particually on the G28 as found in a Class industrial engine

  9. As Dan says,yes.
Start thinking about the power levels attained now a days.
The stk motor made 40 HP, a street flathead is about 80-90 HP
A mild overhead is 120 HP and they go up from there.
Add a little fuel or heavens for bid some Nitro and you have a grenade.

Yep got it, but I figured the aftermarket scat cranks to be better quality and perhaps hold up better?

The Achilles heal of the Skat crank is that the rod journals are A size (smaller) rather then B size.

I had my lifters boars enlarged for the use of Chrysler lifters in my B engine. The work was done by Schwam's Babbited bearings in Strasburg, Pa. Ph#717-687-6976 I haven't run the engine as yet so I can't tell you how it worked out. Sorry, I don't have any pictures..
