How about the "Blockheads" from Gumby?
How about Tom Slick and the Thunder Bolt Grease Slapper??
He did not do that jump, he wanted to and would have but the insurance company wouldn't let him. The man knew how to ride!
I think McQueens friend and stuntman Bud Ekins did the jump.
Thunderbolt and Lightfoot one of my favroite movies! Im surprised no ones brought up the B movie "The Car", I believe it was a George Barris custom, and like "Duel" you never saw the driver! Favroite part is when the car runs over the tuba player!
Yeah, the Night Rider #1. Have to say something for "the Humongous" from "Mad Max 2" (that's for you, Doc ). "JUST WALK AWAY..."
Yes! That was awesome, I forgot about that. Everyone needs to see that movie.
Be sure and watch the DVD with the director's commentary running.
There is some really great info there as well.
George Kennedy (Red) in that movie was as bad ass as it gets...
For sheer never-give-up toughness...how about Richard Pryor as Wendell Scott in Greased Lightning?
The Driver (aka "Cowboy Desperado").
My vote is for Sid Haig playing "Hawk" in the Jack Hill film Pit Stop from 1969
Man pit stop is a killer movie........I love that wrecking yard he worked at!!! Killer figure 8 action!!! JOKER JASON.
I loved that scene!
Sweet ride also...but gets f'd up by a boat!
How bout the Hitcher with Ruger Howard!
When he's in the truck!
Did I miss it along the way or has no one mentioned Bo Hopkins as Joe Young in American Graffitti? That was the kind of tough guy we probably all knew and didn't want him to notice us. I know there was about three guys just like that in my neighborhood when i was a kid.
Ryan O'neal was pretty tough in "The Driver"
Gotta be McQueen in Bullitt. Need to see it on the big screen to feel your stomach drop on the jumps. And who can beat Max Balchowsky as a car preparer? IMHO, greatest chase ever with Ronin coming up next.
How about Bogey in 'They Drive By Night'?
Anyone remember The Ol' Tales Of The Cript episode with the pissed off cop that un-covers his black 56 chevy to go after Brad Pitt?
How about Burt Reynolds as Gator McCluskey in "Gator"
Kinda like this?? Link to the whole episode on Youtube.
I like the dude'he wasnt really a badass.but he fucked up some shit with his old ford..i like how he took out the dumpster. As far as car movie tough guys,I like kurt russel in death proof, jerry reed crushing shit with the bandit rig,but prolly steve mcqueen as the best overall gear grabbin badass....
That is what I first thought of when I saw this thread.
