Thats right, Cundalili, Hey, I just finished night shift..... Gimme a break!

  3. I gotta interject. Might not really be synonymous with car movies, but James Dean died 54 years ago today, and come on, how many of our parents/grand parents went out and got themselves a red jacket after Rebel w/o a Cause came out.

Side note. I loved Death Proof, but it really put too many bad ideas in my head in terms of ramming people off the road.

If you look at his credits on IMDB, he was a driver in just about every car movie you can think of including Bullit, Rebel Without a Cause, Thunder Road, Grand Prix and many others. He was still doing stunts when he was in his 70s. So, when it comes to real people (not movie characters) he was probably the toughest guy of them all. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0517444/

Eh... they're pretty tough, but not old school tough.

For instance... vin diesel or the british dude from transporter would probably talk a little trash before starting in... I think Bronson would haymaker the shit outta them before they were done trash talkin'. It's not so much that these old school dudes were tough tough... they were scrappers. I'd be way more afraid of a working class farmer like Bronson, over some airbrushed tan meatheads like vinnyboy or the brit.

Cage is laughable... but puts on a good performance. He has his tough moments I guess. lol

Duel was made for T.V in 1971 and was the first feature film directed by Steven Speilberg. I bought a new copy recently on DVD for $2.00.

Steven Speilberg makes a unintentional cameo in the movie ... when the salesman is making a phone call from the telephone booth you can see his reflection in the glass !!!

Now I'll have to go back & watch that.

Hard to beat Robert Mitchum in Thunder Road. He was bad ass in real life too.

Or how about Vic Morrow as the cop in The California Kid?

When the chase scene happened for the first time way back when while watching Bullit, I'll throw in a thumbs up to McQueen. The dude driving the Charger was no slouch by the way...
In Ronin the guy who played Sully on Third Watch did a gooood job as the wheelman, a gooood job!

Sin City - especially the middle piece - 'get me a car with a decent motor and a big trunk'. Jessica Alba ain't bad, either.

That Transporter guy might be a good athlete but he must be a puny little guy. Look at the way the Audi or Lamborghini swallow him up.

Worst car guy of all time - the gay Nicholas Cage in the second, totally gay 'Gone in 60 Seconds' movie. When his car stalls out during the chase, does he pump the gas? Pop the clutch? No, he talks to it. LOL.

That brings to mind the awesome original 'Gone in 60 Seconds'. One of the best driving movies of all time. The driver - his name escapes me at the moment - broke several ribs during the scene where the 'Stang spins and gets t-boned by the pole. That spin was inadverdant - they left it in the movie, taped him up, and he shot the remaining scenes. Somehow this guy got thru the whole movie without talking to or dryhumping the car.

The original gone in 60 seconds was TERRIBLE! there; I said it, I'm a movie buff, and this is one of maybe 6 movies I have ever fallen asleep during the first time I saw it. Don't get me wrong, the first 20 minutes was cool, then it was the same damn thing for the rest of the movie!

    Jason Statham in "The Transporter"

Nick Cage in "Gone is 60 Seconds"
(I don't care if he had to cup the Mustangs balls during the chase)

Daniel Craig in "Quantam of Solace"
(not a car movie I know; but who beats Bond?)

Gregg Henry in "Hot Rod" (1979)

Charlie Sheen/"Gutter and Skank" from "The Wraith"
(I forgot about this movie untill this thread came up)

The one line I'll always remember from "Thunder Road" was when the cop stopped Mitchum after having ripped the rear bumper/license plate off the Ford. The cop says, " I think I have a bumper that belongs to you"
Mitchum (totally expressionless) says, "why doncha give it back, that's just like stealin'..."

Toby Hallickey {may be misspelled} was the director and the driver in 60 seconds. He filmed a lot of the driving scenes illegally with a dash cam driving around L.A. Every car crashed in that film belonged to him.
