Yeah, he always liked the cars I had too. He'd borrow my first (O/T) project car to head to the golf course or coffee with his buddies. And he never complained about the messes I made in his garage either!
I was pretty blessed in the "dad" department.

Ha ! ... Good observation... I took this photo just after the car was finished, Oct. 1966. It was a very successful car, partly because Tobias did not use those brakes very often. :D

  3. Here is a pic of my dad in 1979 or 80 with is 34 5 window. It was an old race car in Texas. Notice the suicide front spring perch and the cowl cut away for the set back olds it once had. Lost dad in Feb of this year. Miss him every day. 7C59C73B-E7D0-43F9-B1F3-1A1A81F221B9.jpeg

  4. I don't have any pictures of him with it, but here is my dad's '64 Comet, raked out and lace painted. This was his first car.

And here's a classic picture of my dad's dad, grandpa Bryant

  5. Dad on the right. 54 Ford Mod,. This would have been late 60s? Brooking Speedway SD. Notice they are wearing "whites" no ripped jeans in the pits like you see today. It was a rule. 20220621_062633.jpg

Dad,I think tryed pretty hard, let me keep old car parts in the weeds out back. My working jungle. LOL
He had his own limitions, really didn't like getting his hands dirty,*so mostly gave advise, mostly good* some not.
    He could and did make super stuff out of wood, even in the Navy {WW2}
    Molded plywood aircraft. "Bell XP77"

We did build a SCCA H-Mod sportscar together in the mid 1950s,he wanted to go racing. It won some too.
This was me cleaning every thing, before he'd play with it.{ today when telling others,I think it funny to say "Wax on Wax off;",cleaning thing o_O"But learned a lot more then just cleaning.
Pic is,Dad advise over left front fender in his sunday shirt,as I'm working on my "J" Rocket 88 in about 1960.
    Lost Dad in 1985,RIP

  7. My Dad wasn't a "car guy" but he could fix anything...he was a product of the depression, so he had to! He was a helluva Dad who indulged all my car crazy wackiness. Been missing him for 52 years (next month.

  8. My dad was never a car guy, but in his youth he had a 1932 Ford5 window coupe that he painted a green body, and orange fenders as that was the only paint that he could get for free.

My dad was my hero growin up, and remained that his entire life. Lost him 4 years ago at almost 93 yrs old. I miss the crap out of him. Nearly every day I think of something I’d like to be able to ask him. But, all in all, I have no right to complain or have a pity party. Lots of folks aren’t near as fortunate to have a dad around for lots of years. If you still have yours, don’t take it for granted.

  13. Dean Lowe,,,,great pic !
I love seeing the details in these old photos .
The identical shirts y’all were wearing,,,,,dressed to look professional .
Your racing machine,,,,looks like quite a piece .
Buzz Bomb lettered on the cowling,,,,,and you gently touching it .
That was something to be proud of !

And,,,,the fact that almost no one was fat back then,,,,,,better diet and more exercise .
No slob clothes or rubber shoes and jam shorts,,,,lol .
