I forgot to tell about the fast corvair...
Went from Gastonia to Hickory, NC in 15 minutes... Normally a 40 min drive (38 miles)...
My brother had just wrecked his motorcycle and I was getting him to the hospital... That poor little vair had it rough...

  3. Wound a z28 up to 165 one night after midnight from hickory to Claremont nc and the rpms were still climbing...dotted lines turned into solid lines real quick. It was a good spot with no off ramps plus guard rails so if you seen a cop we would have passed him.

Speedometer needle went past 120, I figured the distance between the numbers at 20 more. Front end felt "floaty and light", dust flew out of the vents in our faces and when I backed it down to 70 a cop passed us. He spun around and went back the other way. OT 69 Camaro was my car at the time.

160+ in my 98 Vette in the California desert. 180 on the back stretch in a Nascar class car at Texas Motor Speedway. Both were a hoot - the Nascar deal was safer and smarter.

not the fastest I've ever been but maybe the most stupid I ever been.

100 MPH in my 69 GTO running on 4 bald bias ply recaps with 4 other high school kids in the car. nobody wearing seat belts. lucky for us this was in 1978 before these types of activities became dangerous.

Mach 1+ straight up in an F-15D over Denmark in 1989. It was an incentive ride but I got to steer during some barrel rolls.

I know the thread is for vehicles you've actually owned but I'm a tax payer, so I owned it, right?

400+ power dive in the Miss America P-51 Mustang, Bud Granley at the stick, Miss British Air Force between my knees. Wow, wow, wow. On wheels, my brothers ex-Police Interceptor with a solid lifter, 429 Super Cobra Jet, 1971 Galaxie, speedo was calibrated to 150 mph and we were using all of it. Gears were like 2.something:1.

  12. I want to hear more about Miss British Air Force between your knees! LOL Mile high club?

I managed to get a clapped out Triumph TR-4A up to 130 one day while passing my buddy in his Buick Gran Sport. His bow wave kept pushing me sideways, but finally I got the right puff of air and got past him. God was riding with me that day and He didn't have his seat belt on either!

I've been a little over 180 a few times in my turbo Supra and it still had a lot left in it. Years ago I went over 150 a couple times in my '67 E-Type. This spring/summer I want to push my '32 (Brookville roadster w/427ci/550+hp) to see what it can do.

That's impressive! How much did the car weigh?

Fastest Street car- 168 in a twin turbo big block Pantera, on a highway in Texas south of Dallas (in 5th gear, didn't get to 6th gear when we knew the road was running out and slowed down)

Scariest street car- 92mph in a wore out 72 Pinto . The whole car was flexing and moving around on sloppy steering

Racecar on dirt- Outlaw late model, 120mph give or take on a big half mile high bank oval near Beaver Dam Kentucky

Racecar pavement- 150ish in a pavement modifed

In my 20's I had a 72 SS Camaro flat out going across a 2 mile bridge one night. It got just past 120 which was max for the speedo.

I was coming home from the Vintage Car Races in Steamboat and was in the wide open spaces by Walden, doing 140 in my 280Z, when I got passed by a Pantera! The fastest car I have ever driven is my OT, street legal drag car: 468 BB @ 2300LBs. The fastest I ever went on a country road was 160 in a friends '67 GT Lambo: V12/6 dual Webbers :D I don't advocate this... stuff happens way to fast at that speed...broken white lines on pavement turn into solid white lines! Try this stuff at a sanctioned facility folks ;)

    Just a hair over 140 in a 1984 HO Z28.

  20. Young, dumb, on a public street, speedo said 120. Once.

  21. 160 in a 41' Chevy at which point I ran out of speedo, balls and Highway in that order. You'd also be surpized at how long it takes to slow down from that speed.

Alright , since everyone else is mentioning how fast they went in their OT vehicle, I'll throw my hat in the ring.

No Limit Raceway (aka US 41) 1/4 mile, 132 MPH, 9.75 seconds on a Yamaha Raptor ATV with a turbo charged GSXR 1000.

I have only have video of a slower pass at Milan in Michigan http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8qw8q4HYOA&feature=related

    Im in the near lane

126 in a 2013 Dodge Charger police car. I didn't have a good road (too many curves) but i got it to 126 three different times. Scary part? At 124 or so, it had just shifted into final gear. Wow!
