I've been hearing story's like that for as long as I have been into cars,.. There was a kid that use to come into Gratiot Auto Supply with a 62 Falcon, 6 cyl. Automatic,... spent all his money every Friday on that car,..

Chrome slotted steel wheels & wide ovals
    Thrush muffler
    Hi-Jacker air shocks,.....

And one velocity stack !,.... He bolted the velocity stack to the center of the hood (shimmed with a stack of washers)..... The kid swore it was the fastest car in town and did neutral slams every time he left our parking lot... Revved it up in neutral a bunch of times and dropped it in low... Sometimes, we could actually hear a tiny little chirp...:D

The older we get, the faster we were....

My fuel altered "Power Play", 5.37 at over 270 mph, Boise Nightfire Nationals in 2007. My pal Greg Uffens was driving that weekend.

I can't believe this is still floating around, 4 years is a long time to keep a bull shit story about a 460 Ranchero running in the 9s going. A 1975 Ranchero would be lucky to do the quarter in 15 seconds let alone 9! Pro Stock set up race cars run in the 9s not stock cars with a carb change.

I said it in my first post, but maybe I was too subtle. Sorry.

Not so fast but quick, 1966 Olds 442 4 speed, made my 70 SS396 chevelle look like it was tied to a tree. Apples and oranges but I'm not too sure my rpu wouldn't have beat them both.

I just entertained myself for a bit with the first page on this deal! As for me I have to default to my beloved and lamented street bug from about twenty years ago... 1915 with huge heads and nitrous and a couple of high 11 time slips.

I bought a 75 Ranchero with a 460 from some old guy in Virgina, man it was fast. The guy that hauled it home for me said just havin' it on his hauler made him have to back off on the throttle just to keep near the speed limit.:D:rolleyes:

    I read the whole thread.

    Quickest car I owned was a 71 Duster, 340, 4 spd.

Fastest was a 75 Gran Fury with a swapped in 68 440 auto, could hardly get out of it's own way at low speed but floor it around 55 or 60 then watch her go, metric speedo only read to 100 mph, would fill that just before it shifted into 3rd, never found enough straight road around here to reach her limit.

A buddy has one of those new Challengers, it's pretty damn quick/fast.

73' Pontiac Grand Prix SJ with a 455 in her. I've also driven my son's supercharged Cobra
with 550 HP at the crank which is the fastest car I've driven, but not owned!
