wish i really had something to add to the thread, but all i got for today is i found a vacuum leak that was giving me fits..... and i wish to hell i could locate some 14" four lug steelies.
i actually CAUSED the vacuum leak putting the old wiper setup back in place..... can't hear that well (can't discriminate noises) so it was a bear until i finally heard the hissing hose connection.

looks like somebody had a V8 in your ute at one time, or tried to put one there, from the chopping about done to the core support. "previous owners" are some silly sods..... i do a LOT of head shaking when i run across some of the shite they've done.

then again.... i do some silly shit, too. not lately.... but i have done it.

that's a pretty sturdy looking little truckette... not familiar with how Ford designed the bed/cab transition as opposed to our Rancheros.... there looks to be a bit of space at the front of the bed that is semi-covered? ours are wide open from the window back.
ah, well; time to do something to mine.

yeh your right mate the previous owner had hacked it out. it had a big radiator in it but still for the little 6 which is a bit of a worry. I have got another radiator support (core support to you fellas haha) that is in really good nick but I will use that one day if the ute ever has a restoration. For now its staying as is.

It is pretty solid considering how I found the old thing. Sitting in a paddock, no diff or anything in it

and here is a pic of in the rear of our utes. that section under the back is covered by the rear window and everything.

  10. Gasser style is the only correct way to do a Falcon in my book.

i wasn't aware that there was wood in the bed of your ute.... learn something every day! twice, if i'm not careful.

our Rancheros use the longer two-door design doors, and drop the bed front straight down (more or less) from the back window; since the seat mounting actually sets the amount of footroom, it seems that Ford was burning the midnight oil working out how to maintain sufficent cargo space and also shortening the overall length.... crafty bastards.

I know, I know a few Falcons and chevy IIs were still built in the old gasser style, but by the time they were old enough to be turned into race cars the style had already evolved to something more like " Fast Elvis' " '55 Chev,IMHO.

True, but in the case of my Falcon it was built in 1963 ish and raced in the Gas Class in and around Chicago. I have photos if the crew guys pouring bleach under the tires at Great Lakes Dragway. Not all "Gassers" were 33 or 40 Willys.
