Yes pretty much, I think I had to drill a hole or two but nothing major. Make sure you get the whole assembly and not just the front because the lights are in different places.

Yep, got one to go in the wagon too! Best part is, in the wrecking yard we grabbed it out of I gave the girfriend a phillips screwdriver and said "take it out"... Ten minutes later she had the cluster, and all dash trim plus the knobs and such in a pile! She slept the rest of the day though...

If I end up with this wagon I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for that cluster and wheel.

You might be REAL surprised how big 15s will be on that car especially with any lowering.

I am sure you will do some measuring before buying tires and wheels.

KIRK, did you happen to check out the cool white/woodgrain Falcon wagon at the Des Moines Goodguys event? I think it's from the midwest, but was set up very nicely, similar to what you're talking about. Lowered, 302/AOD, disc brakes, maybe AC.

They were asking around $15k, but it seemed like a damn nice car....

I love Falcons and that looks like a very nice one, but it looks like a Grand Wagoneer now. :)
I like those satin / polished Torque Thrusts.

1.5 coils cut, no shelby drop, raised upper shock mounts, bumpstops trimmed, 3" blocks out back, air shocks if I wanted to carry any people or gear. Rode pretty nice, I didn't keep it long. The wheels were 13" astro chrome slots with 175/80r13's.

  14. I don't know where to find the pictures but, quite sure the guys at Shelby, (Pete Brock, ect.), put one together for a parts runner - that was a bit more than stock. Could be way cool.

Here is my former 62 with 15 and 16 inch wheels. I used a Currie narrowed 8 inch rear end.

I know the wheels are OT but they are 15" and fit under my car with the stock suspension and never rubbed. I also have a a 64 wagon and there is alot more clearence in that car

My Comet with cut coils, 185/75X14's and 14"x5" Fairlane rims, gave me room to steer. Drove it like that for years. Had it lower for a while but it was a hassle-

(to me, seems like 14"x6" rims right next to the fender lip doesn't look like enough room, but I haven't tried it-)

    KIRK,
So many wheels would look killer on that wagon. I'm digging the american daisy's lately. You don't see many cars out there with them like in the 60's&70's.

    Weez,your Comet looks killer!

Just got back from looking at the Squire. The guy is high with a lowest price of $16,700. The paint was good, but the dark "wood" had bubbles, the lighter trim has several damaged areas. The seats were OK, but one was coming unstitched. It needed all new wind lace. The rest of the interior was just OK when it should be sparkling for his $19,500 asking price. The engine compartment was OK at best.

I don't think the guy was trying to get over on me, but he spent WAY too much money for what he has and isn't willing to see that and cut his losses.

For $10K I'd feel like I got an OK deal. At $16,700 I felt like I'd be starting out $7k in the hole.

Fuck I hate being in the market for a car! I am always WAY overly critical when I describe a car I'm selling. People always tell me that the car is better than I made it out to be. I hate getting screwed, so I don't screw other people.

I'd suggest looking at the 68ish GT wheels. you can get generi caps sans the GT and drop a falcon emblem on em or go blank and have a period (ish). there's pics of my 63 sprint in the falcons done right thread.

16k is way to much.. 10k should get you a nice wagon, 15k should be a really nice one (chevy or ford)

    Exactly.

  24. I am the same way way over critical on my own cars. A 16k falcon would have to be a bad mother fucker. You have rad taste in cars trust your instinct man.

No Weez, your 100% right, 14X6 wheels with a neutral off set are just not enough room under the front fender wells on these cars if you drop them a bit. My wagon wasn't even turnable with the tru-spokes and 185/75 on the front. Yesterdays addition of some Hankook 175/70-14s made all the difference in the world though. That's why I was saying a 4" backspace will be your freind on these cars.

Been in the same shoes lookin' for an o/t Mustang for my female lately. The cars have been ranging from clapped out shined up trash for 5 - 7k or 9-12k for slightly shinier and a better interior but still needing tons of work. Thing is, most of these more expensive cars were bought and "restored" back in the early and mid 2000s when they were worth more... And folks just don't get that prices have dropped across the board on middle of the road collectable cars. After about 8 cars, she's gettin lots less happy about driving across this town to look at another... Patience young grasshopper...

I run 15"s all around on steel Ford wheels on my 1960 Ranchero on 5 bolt wheels. I think the fronts are a bit wider than the rears are. I have 195-65s on the front and 205-65s on the back. I'm at stock height in the front and have a 1" lowering block in the rear to level it out as I added one leaf for a bit more support if I haul anything. Used a Maverick or Comet rear end from the middle 70s. I think my wheels are from 1970s Torinos, LTDs or T-Birds. I have Ford dog dish hubcaps from the early 60s...

I don't think I can go any bigger on the rear tire without getting into issues with the rocker panel for clearance in the front.

Always thought real skinny frontrunner 15" mags (like 15"x4" five spokes) with 5.60x15's on all four would be neat, on an early Falcon/Comet- maybe 6.40's in the rear?

After reading through this . Im thinkin that a 15x7 4" backspace wheel on the front might not be possible with a 3 in drop coil in the front ? Using a 185/60/15 tire. Maybe I should run a 14x6 front and 15s out back

I'm 2" down, with 185/70-14's on the front, for now. I have custom hubs from Scarebird, for deeper wheels, so they are even further out than the stock ones. I had even lower coils on it before, and even had my spare on there, which is a 185/80-14.

Granted, my wheels are narrower, but it all fit. There was still room, AND there was a 3/8" spacer under it.

This is about 3" down, in this picture, with the 185/80-14 on the exposed front wheel, spacer included:
