I found this at Jon Hardgrove's site:
    http://www.thecarburetorshop.com/Multiplecarbmanifolds.htm

Here is is for your viewing pleasure... add to it as you see fit, but email Jon so he can keep his list up-to-daye! Remember, these are FACTORY intakes.

    ~Jason

Jon's a Pontiac nut, so I posted some Pontiac pics. He and his wife Sue are the owners of Stromberg USA, interestingly enough, and are totally cool with Clive in the UK repopping the 97, although are not really affiliated with 'em (a little trivia for you). They're a hell of a nice bunch of people, and has all kinds of goodies in his shop! He even does trades! http://www.thecarburetorshop.com/Carb_shop_sell_to_us.htm

Yeah, I noticed that, too! Obtaining a 331 Hemi soon has made my eyes open a little wider around that stuff, and I was looking for intakes just this morning!

But yeah, I noticed there's not a lot of early Mopar V8 stuff mentioned...

68-69 vette same as above but low rise
    1963 Z- 11 was 427 not 396 as listed

  7. Early 1956 Corvette and Chevrolet 2 X 4 setups had a different intake than the one listed. The early one had casing number 3728725.

The Vette 54/55 inline had tripower, not dual carbs. I had one in my 52 Chev Htp. Scared the s*&^ out of a lot of 55/56 Chevy guys in the 1/8th mile.

I went ahead and emailed Jon out of the blue and told him we were adding to his list. He emailed me back (I have been touched by greatness)!!!

I really didn't mean for this to be a plug, or to try to SPAM the board, though! Sorry if some of y'all took it that way. :)

    ~Jason

"Jason - thanks for the plug! Would be delighted to update the listing with
CONFIRMED data. At one time or another, we have had at least one of most of the units in the list in our possession. Would like to add to the list if possible. Please forward data.

Since I cannot post on the forum, you might consider posting this for me:

To the gentleman who posted that I was clearly not a Ford guy - WRONG!

My entire life I have driven mostly Fords, and GTO's, with a smathering of
other stuff. My two current projects are a 1974 GTO 354/435 HP 4-speed (runs fairly well ☺) and our shop truck is a 1968 Ford F-100 that has been in our family since 1969.

When the original 360 would no longer start reliably at -15 degrees F. it was replaced with a 390 GT (but Carter AFB carb - I like fuel economy!). About 15 years ago, I acquired the truck from my Dad, and proceeded to replace the dogmatic with a truck 4-speed.

About 5 years ago, the single AFB was replaced with an Offenhauser 2x4 and 2 hand-made Carter AFB carbs (made from 4 AFB's, and calibrated for the Ford engine). Truck will pull smoothly from idle to WOT in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. In 4th, one needs to be at about 1000 RPM before WOT. On the highway at a constant 70 MPH, the truck will deliver about 21.5 MPG on gasoline, and about 18.5 MPG on deathanol. City mileage is lower (occasionally significantly lower ☺☺).

Other special order Fords owned included a 1967 GTA 390 Mustang, and a 1968 GT 390 Mustang. Another special order which we still own is a 1979 Turbo Cobra Mustang. All of these were purchased new by us.

We have a fully restored (carbs done by Holley Custom Shop using our kits, I won't work on Holleys) 1963 390 3x2 in our shop. Manifold has Ford logo, but no casting numbers.

Shop tours are welcome with previous appointment.

    Regards. Jon."

Hudson had the "Twin-H Power" in 1952 and 1953 for the Horonets. It used 2 Carter WA-1 carburetors and I believe a cast iron intake. Carburetor numbers were two 968S or two 990S.

Here's a few pictures of the 9772128 '63 Pontiac Super Duty 421 2X4 'bathtub' intake for those who haven't seen one. This one's a rare repro of the original factory unit, there are probably less than 30 'real' ones and just over 20 of these repros out there.

This was the first true tunnel ram intake, it predates the aftermarket tunnel rams by a couple of years. Pontiac engineering really had some smart guys making it all happen back in the days of the Stocker Wars.

The linkage, carbs and fuel lines are not Super Duty pieces. The carbs are '66 GTO 575 cfm units (The 421 SD used 750 cfm NASCAR units) and the fuel lines and progressive linkage (some Tri-Power linkage parts were used) were made up here in my home garage.

There was room in between the 2 AFBs for a 3-bolt 2-barrel idling carb, the factory units usually used a blockoff plate here.

This intake is the most unusual and advanced factory unit ever made in my eyes.

Of course I'm kinda biased being a Pontiac man.

D'OH!! I was staring at a pic of a 'Vette 6 with 3 side draughts when I wrote that! Dunno where my brain was.
    AAR 'Cuda's had a 340 six pack. '71?
I have a few Chrysler flathead six dual carb and exhaust manifolds from '50's Dodge trucks, do they count? I blew up a couple of car engines using them! (Well, I rolled one, but that's another story.)

Nash flathead sixes could be had with two carbs, but since there was no manifold as such (the carbs bolted right on the head) they might not qualify.

The original intent of the multiple carb manifolds list was to help individuals IDENTIFY various manifolds that they may have acquired. This is why there are a number of applications which are absent from the listing. We simply don’t have the casting numbers.
    <o:p></o:p>
Without really studying what is missing, applications that immediately come to mind would be:
    <o:p></o:p>
    Buick 1941-1942 compound carburetion (2x2)
    Cadillac 1930-1940 V-16 (2x1, 2x2)
    Cadillac 1931-1937 V-12 (2x1)
    Duesenberg 1931-1932 model J (2x2 with blower)
    Fords – a bunch!
    Hudson Twin H-power 1952-1955 (2x1)
    Lincoln 1958? (3x2)
    Mercury 1957-1958 (3x2)
    Mopar – several 1955 and 1956 (2x4)
    Nash 1952-1956 (2x1)
    <o:p></o:p>

Cool thread! I have a dumb question though - When I was a kid my uncle ran a pair of 3bbl carbs on an engine. Were these ever a factory deal or strictly aftermarket?

To my knowledge the only manufacturer that made a 3 barrel carb was Holley. I had a 950DFM 3 barrel carb on my 48 Chevy with nasty 327. They also made them in 1050CFM or 1150CFM I think.
I don't think any manufacturer ever used them on any factory car though.

Stromberg built the first 3-barrel of which I am aware. Carb was built in 1937 to be used as a 2x3 on the 1938 Cadillac V-12. And then Cadillac discontinued the V-12. I have the only prototype of which I am aware.

Next (to my knowledge) 3-barrel was the Carter 3636s. This is the infamous "trap door" AFB which was built for Pontiac NASCAR racing in 1963. Flow test was 939 CFM at 1.5 inches Hg, and 1128 CFM at 3 inches Hg. These were available OTC if you were a known Pontiac racer. I have a letter from Carter stating 15 to 20 were built, but at one time about 20 years ago, I knew of the existance of 24. I have two currently.

Holley made several 3-barrels. The earliest to my knowledge is R-3085 for 1964 Chrysler. The more common R-3916 came out as aftermarket in 1968.
