I just bought a 48 Chevy pickup that has a 53-55 corvette 235 exhaust manifold on it. I've been told these are rare as hens teeth and worth a ton. I can't find much info on this - any help would be appreciated. Thanks Mark
What do you want to know? The following article documents the improvement it makes over the single version: http://www.selectric.org/55chevy/soup.html
It depends on who's restoring a '53-'54 Corvette at the time you want to sell it. I'd bet that more of these manifolds were sold over the parts counter to Chevy six hot rodders than actually came on cars, since they were half the price of a pair of Fenton headers. I've owned six of them, and four out of the six had casting date codes from 1956-57, guaranteeing that they were replacement parts sold over the counter.
What he says about date codes; the Corvette guys are anal retentive about them. Generally, unless they are in the 6 months prior to the cars build date, they're not correct.
The url is a big file. "Soup that Chev" is a great article. When you find a price, Please pm me if you want to sell. I don't care about date codes... Thanks, Larry
