I bought a 51 Ford Victoria steering wheel for my 54 F100, but the shaft isn't tall enough for the nut to screw on. Its the original column. It had a rusty 3 spoke grant which I removed as well as the 3 bolt adapter that was used. Is there a longer shaft I can buy to be able to use that steering wheel? If not, I might have to get a original style steering wheel.

    Thanks,

    Phil

  2. Or cut the threaded bit off, tap the shaft and run a bolt down instead of a nut. Then you would need to drill a hole in the nut to run your horn wires down. Just a thought, I have not tried it.

Cut it where it can't be seen and use a steering shaft coupler to add the extra you need ! This is also a good time to change the threads for the correct steering wheel you are going to use . If the weld isn't perfect , it can cause you problems !
