I have a complete Ford F1 brakes and spindles from 1949 RHD (rare) Monkey Face. I have been changing my mind many thousand of times on wheel stud patten. Is there a way to run 5 on 4 1/2 without re-drilling the hubs? I have thought about using Mustang hubs with 11" Galaxy brake drums so could this work? Is there another bolt on way without modifications? Being in Australia I cannot just go to a wrecker and grab Galaxy and other big Fords brakes and play "mix & match" My F1 brake pads and drums are well undersized so all needs replacement.
I just re drilled mine with the jig from rotten Lenard's. I know that's not what you where looking for but it was easy and inexpensive. Drums shoes and hardware are cheap.
Yep, not allowed to be drilled in Australia. Also F1 brake stuff not so cheap for parts here once you include freight from the USA. Freight would be at least $200. Reason I mentioned Galaxy front drums is they are available here from a local supplier. I have a spare Mustang hubs but that's it.
I have access to Customline 15" x 5, also between all my cars and trailers trying to keep some "swapability" between everything. Want to run 700 x 15 and 550 x 15 I have quite a few spares in 5 on 4 1/2
What about wheel adapters? They will set your wheels out about an inch, but if you can live with that, it is an option.
Hey !! I have F1 on my car and the lugs are 5x51/2, I know you mention the expense to ship down under but Summit has Wheel Vintiques with duel pattern of 5 on 5 or 5 on 51/2. Pete http://www.summitracing.com/parts/wvi-14-5505234
Wheel adaptors are also illegal here unfortunatly. If I do redrill the hubs is there a 5 on 4 1/2 brake drum a can use?
